Restaurant.com gift certificates

I find alot of great deals thru a friends blog - Mochamom is all over the deals especially grocery shopping! If you think I'm good check her out! You can click thru to her blog from the right hand side blog list on my page! Thanks Mochamom!

Have you ever purchased gift certificates from Restaurant.com? Well, if you have not, then now is a great time to try them out. Restaurant.com serves as the community matchmaker, introducing great restaurants to great people. From appetizers to dessert, from wine to dinner, Restaurant.com helps restaurant owners promote the new and unique aspects of their restaurants while providing diners with great value in a fun, new and cost effective way. Your favorite restaurant is in your neighborhood – maybe you just don’t know it yet. Restaurant.com is there to help. For the most part you can get a gift certificate for half price with some stipulations for example on a $50 gift certificate you can buy it for $25 but it can not include alcohol or some require you to make a minimal purchase before the gift certificate. These are pretty good deals to try a new place or go to a place you enjoy as a treat! Periodically I get/find out about even better deals thru restaurant.com for example Mochamom posted a 90 percent off gift certificates code a few weeks ago...Thanks to her I got two $25 and one $10 gift certificate for $2.40...you can not beat that! Well right now they have addl 80 percent off - choose your gift certificates (remember to read the stipulations should be to the side under the resturant info before you buy..at the checkout screen - enter promo code CHEF. After purchase they email you the certificate to print out and take with you to the restaurant

What is MS?

Multiple sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another. Today, new treatments and advances in research are giving new hope to people affected by the disease. This past Sunday, we walked in the 20th annual MS Walk at Mt. Trashmore.

Our good friend, Tye Tyssen has MS. Above is his 6 month old son Ethan.

Each year, many of Tye's friends and family get together to honor him in this annual MS Walk in Va Beach. Similar to the Komen for the Cure breast cancer walk I do in October.

This is Tye, his wife Leslie and their son Ethan. I remember the first time I met Tye and Leslie...Brian decided it was time to stop hiding me away and actually introduce me to some of his friends. I have a bad habit of making snap judgements about people...so when I first met Tye and Leslie I thought whoa...seems like these two could not be more different...Tye in his own ways is a country boy...and Leslie could not be more of a city girl. I remember thinking what will I ever have in common with this girl...years later I consider her one of my best friends. Her spunky personality makes her a blast to be around and a great dancing partner! She will be the first one to tell you she didn't have much experience with kids but she handles Ethan like she has been doing it all her life...My favorite is when she sings Itsy Bitsy spider and he calms down instantly...Tye has the same personality he can talk and get along with almost anyone. Before and after he found out he had MS, his love for life shined through in everyway. His family right down to Mamaw is as friendly and loving as he is...When he gave his toast at our wedding it took my breath away...He truly is one of the greatest friends you could ever have.
Tye lives daily with the reminder of his struggles with MS, yet he does not let it change the person he is, the person he was meant to be...He inspires me and many others every day.
One of my favorite quotes,
Be kinder than necessary as everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
Sometimes life has to smack you in the face so you realize that those little things are nothing compared to the bigger battles in life...
Consider donating even $5 or $10 dollars to support tye via Tyes Team at

Another Boy to add to the Teagle Family!

HERE'S THE NEWS....

Dana and Jeff are having a BOY!

I must say I was hoping for a girl...ready to buy some pink (besides Kaylee the last 5 have been boys.) But Carson has changed my life in every possible way just being his aunt...so another one of him is just fine with me! I want to let Dana and everyone else know I cant wait...Dana had a gender party...had everyone over and let Carson cut a beautiful cake she made...the cake was BLUE...which let us all know it was another boy! Some names up in the air are....Blake, Carter, Collin, Cavin....I'm going to have to think of a good suggestion ... If you have any ideas leave me a comment...

Still working on my own project, and 3 more friends have found out they are pregnant this past month...I guess its just baby mania

We also drove up to DC for Katie's baby shower, one of my best friends...Katie and I met freshman year at Longwood and have truly been inseparable since!

Trip to the dentist...

So I have to share this story with everyone....
I had a dentist appt this morning at 9am...and you all know I'm not a morning person and I don't particularly enjoy getting my teeth scraped

I walk back and the hygienist says "your up for x-rays - you're not pregnant are you?" almost in a joking voice and I said well no but technically its a possibility...of course she said just to be safe we'll skip the x-rays so I sit down and open my mouth and get ready for the longest 45 minutes of my life in quite some time. So of course the questions roll...is this planned? how long have you been trying? is this your first child? do you want a boy or a girl? GOOD GOD WOMAN I might be pregnant a small chance and I haven't quite come to grips with the possibility myself much less being asked these questions by pretty much a complete stranger (except our meetings every 6 months for you to tell me I don't floss enough) I felt like I was at the OB/GYN instead of the dentist. Oh but it does not end there...at that point when I have a hard time answering all the questions with a mirror and half your hand in my mouth she politely moves on to giving her opinion on raising kids so I don't have to respond just listen. I remember all my "mom" friends saying how sometimes you get too much advice...now I can relate and I'm not even pregnant yet! The moral of her story was when she was growing up parents didn't let kids have an opinion and that people want kids to express themselves but don't teach them how to. I totally see her point but really a lecture in the dental chair...come on!!!!!!!!!!!
Last but certainly not least she tells me that if I do get pregnant the hormones can make your gums go crazy and you know what that means...you need to floss more now! I mean really, I truly question the validity of that...maybe I'm wrong but doesn't that seem a little too convenient considering I get the "your not flossing enough lecture" every time I go!
So yes have it be known - The McPherson family (Brian and Nicole) are not flossers...we don't want to be and dammit I pay health/dental insurance for a reason so just clean my teeth and shut the hell up!

Go SOXS!

As the baseball season comes to a close (yippee! did i say that) we want to give a shout out to our beloved Red Soxs. Believe me when I say we are big fans! Not only was the Boston Red Soxs part of our wedding vows, we also have a room dedicated to it! Here are a few of my favorite pictures showing our love for the Soxs...Brian and I at my 1st Fenway trip, Carson our fan in training, and lastly Brian's birthday cake from a few years ago! As a manner of fact I have convinced Dana to let Carson be a red sox baseball player for Halloween and our unborn(not yet conceived) child already has a collection of toys, books and clothes!

Farm Fresh Fuel Express Coupons

For anyone following my blog who shops at Farm Fresh. With your receipt you may get a coupon for discounts on gas. Most locations do not have a fuel station (Williamsburg, Yorktown & Hampton have fuel locations) but you get the coupons whether that particular Farm Fresh has a gas pump or not! The savings are based on certain items that you purchase. You may have noticed the ticket next to the price ticket. Save them for me since the Farm Fresh I generally shop at does and it can add up. You can combine up to 10 coupons at a time and get up to 15 gallons of gas at that discounted rate. For example I usually save them and use them all at once...so today gas was 2.27 a gallon(which is good anyway) but I got .19 cents off each gallon with my coupons you just scan them at the pump! So if you get them - use them! But if you don't have a Farm Fresh gas station near you - feel free to send them to me! I can give you my mailing address. They expire 1 month from their issue date!

Here is a click if you would like more information on this program!
